About Jolyn

Getting a phone call from a child (or close family member) from jail is like being hit by a tidal wave.  You’ve been swept off your feet and you can’t seem to gain control.  Even worse, you don’t know where the next wave is coming from.

They just keep on coming.

You’re looking for a lifeline, but until now you didn’t even know what that looked like.  How do you know who will be on your side?  Who will turn on you in judgement?  You feel the impulse to lash out in self-defense, afraid to wait for attacks to come at you first.  You know this isn’t like you, but you’ve just been violently shoved into a whole new world, one you never imagined being a part of.

Your conversations with employees at the county jail have made it clear that they don’t “do”customer service.  You’re treated like a number, not a human being.  It feels cold and uncaring.  Maybe that has to do with the fact that you’re not a “customer” there.  You’re now one of them.  One of those people who is related to or associates with criminals.  They simply don’t care about you.

Please.  Someone help.

Help is here

I’m Jolyn Armstrong.  I’m a Certified Trauma Recovery Coach and I’m here to tell you that you are not alone.  I’m here for you, and I have that lifeline you’re looking for.  I know the storm raging all around you because I’ve been there.  We may not be able to stop the storm, but together we can withstand it.  You will get through this.  Even if it doesn’t feel like it right now, there is hope.

I KNOW this.  Because I’ve done it.

I’m a family member of the accused, just like you, who has gone through the same storm you’re going through.  I provide one-on-one and small group guidance and support for families of the accused, and walk with you through one of the most difficult journeys you may ever face.  I do this by meeting with you regularly by zoom or telephone.

In Between Our Meetings

I’ve spent hundreds of hours building a treasure chest of support resources that helped me and others like me – others like you.

As we meet together and I learn the details about your situation, I’ll make recommendations to resources which will be the most help to you in between our meetings. Things like exercises to diminish panic, books and articles written by and about others who have walked in your shoes, and practical lists of information. This will save you a many hours of work, and help you avoid common pitfalls, and give you the support you need.

A big part of our work together will focus on you: The fear, shame and anxiety you’re facing.

You don’t have to remain in isolation.

Connect with me.

I’ll connect you with others too.

We’re in this together.

We’ll get through this together.

There is life on the other side of this.
